Assessment of Multi-Satellite Precipitation Products over the Himalayan Mountains of Pakistan, South Asia

Performance assessment of satellite-based precipitation products (SPPs) is critical for their application and development. This study assessed the accuracies four (PERSIANN-CDR, PERSIANN-CCS, PERSIANN-DIR, PERSIANN) using data in situ weather stations installed over Himalayan Mountains Pakistan. All SPPs were evaluated on annual, seasonal, monthly, daily bases from 2010 to 2017, whole spatial domain at point-to-pixel scale. The was conducted widely used evaluation indices (root mean square error (RMSE), correlation coefficient (CC), bias, relative bias (rBias)) along with categorical (false alarm ratio (FAR), probability detection (POD), success (SR), index (CSI)). Results showed: (1) PERSIANN PERSIANN-DIR efficiently traced spatio-temporal distribution Mountains. (2) On monthly scale, estimates all more consistent reference than (3) seasonal showed better performances PERSIANN-CDR PERSIANN-CCS products. (4) less accurate sensing light medium intensity events.
